Samuel Bouchard  is CEO of Robotiq. He tells the story of how he and two  lab mates took his professor's robot gripper eight years ago and built a company that now has products in 30 different countries.

Louis-Alexis Allen Demers’s grandfather used to bring his cows to pasture on the land where Robotiq’s building stands today. While robotic arms have replaced heads of cattle, the product designer takes breaks to jog at lunch hour through his family's longstanding forest.

​A man of many firsts

Kenneth Melville is remembered as the first black medical student at McGill University and became the first (and only) black Chair of McGill’s
Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics. Melville, who died in 1975, was also a leader in Montreal’s West Indian community and an advocate for civil rights.. I wrote this short profile on him for McGill's Medicine Focus alumni magazine
